I am a Christian, Catholic, a practicing one. But it is hard to believe in the existence of god if you are rational. I used the term rational in the strictly verbal meaning. There are rationalists who blindly disbelieve in god.
I never saw a rationalist who has any doubts. They absolutely disbelieve in god, the same way my mother believes in god.
I too believe in god. Otherwise where I will seek a support when I need it. God is a crutch. A wall to guard your back when you can’t manage the attacks from all around you.
Well, this is not about why I need a god, but where I will put one. I am a reasonable kind of man. (Unless I am cornered and don’t have an option). Since, I need to believe in god, rather than I believe in god, I have to find some reasonable justification in doing so.
It is hard to believe that all this have been made in a snap, when I look up a clear sky and try to imagine and comprehend the number of terrestrial objects that I see in the sky and don’t.
When you are being overwhelmed with the implication of the sequence of your gene, it is hard to believe this was molded from clay.
If you read the Old Testament, I don’t think you will come out without change. God behaves like a feudal chieftain, who will support his serfs no matter what.
The Old Testament god is partisan, who have no sense of justice when it comes to non – Israelites. He might have created all, but he is partial to Israelites. All others are marginalized as hewers of wood and drawers of water.
Having read the bible, Old Testament, I do have to search for the real god in it. even though, it’s obvious that all the natural and super natural occurrences during the period have been accrued as the acts of god to facilitate the victory of the Jews, his chosen people, truth shines through.
And I believe I have a rational explanation to why it is so.
